Katharine C. Weber
PROFILE  

Since joining the firm in 1989, Katharine has successfully assisted countless clients in handling their labor and employment issues, including litigation of wrongful discharge cases; discrimination cases; negotiating of collective bargaining agreements; representation of employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other federal, Ohio and Kentucky agencies; advising management as to employment relations; drafting employee handbooks, and negotiating severance agreements. Katharine is extremely knowledgeable in the area of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act, and brings sophisticated, yet easy to understand advice on handling and defending against sexual harassment claims. From helping clients analyze options and making recommendations on how to handle employee relations issues, to representing clients in complex discrimination cases, Katharine always provides creative solutions and passionate advocacy for her clients.

Katharine has also appeared numerous times as a guest on the nationally syndicated radio talk show, “The Bill Cunningham Show”, and the Cincinnati radio talk show, “The Mike McConnell Show.”

AWARDS  

In 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 Law and Politics Magazine and Cincinnati Magazine named Katharine as one of “Ohio’s Super Lawyers” in the areas of labor and employment law.

AFFILIATIONS  

Katharine is a Member of the Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Kentucky and American Bar Associations, as well as the Society for Human Resource Management.

Katharine is also very involved in the transportation industry and has successfully litigated several cutting edge employment law cases which have been of great benefit to all employers in the transportation industry. Katharine is a member of the North American Transportation Employee Relations Association (NATERA) where she is a member of the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and is currently serving as Past National Chairman. Katharine is also a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association, and has served on its Executive Committee.

PRESENTATIONS  

In addition to her counseling and litigation duties, Katharine frequently provides on-site training seminars for employers on how to formulate and enforce effective personnel policies to avoid and minimize employee lawsuits. Katharine's informative and interactive presentations are greatly appreciated by companies large and small. Katharine has presented seminars and mock trials involving labor and employment law at a host of local, state, and national conferences where she receives rave reviews from her audiences for her engaging and entertaining presentations. After a recent presentation to the Cincinnati Employers Resources Association, an HR representative from the audience claimed that she had learned more about handling leaves of absence from Katharine's one-hour presentation, than she had learned from any full day's conference on the topic. Katharine has also been a guest faculty speaker for Denver University Sturm College of Law lecturing on labor and employment law in the transportation industry.

PUBLICATIONS  

Katharine’s extensive knowledge and expertise in the areas of labor and employment law and transportation law have led to her publishing articles in the Kentucky Bench and Bar Magazine and the Kentucky Motor Transportation Association monthly newsletter and magazine.
